StrongVPN’s main selling points are its long-standing reputation, an excellent Smart DNS tool, and support for up to 12 simultaneous devices. However, these strengths don’t justify its high price. The VPN has never verified its no-logs policy, and its feature set has barely changed in five years. We recommend its sister product, IPVanish, instead—it’s audited, feature-rich, faster, and easier to use.

Thunder VPN achieved a rating of just 2.7/10 in our tests. Its speeds are extremely slow, and its logging policy is invasive. Although it's free to use for Android users, Thunder VPN isn't worth trying: its encryption is unsafe, it doesn't support torrenting, and it fails to unblock Netflix and most other streaming services.

Mullvad is an excellent choice if your priority is online privacy and anonymity. It excels thanks to WireGuard, ChaCha20 encryption, and a strict no-logs policy. However, it cannot reliably unblock streaming services, bypass heavy web censorship, or offer features like dedicated IP addresses or port forwarding.

Windscribe Free is one of the best no-cost VPN options, offering strong privacy and security alongside the ability to unblock UK Netflix, HBO Max, and BBC iPlayer. However, it’s held back by a 10GB monthly data cap. The paid version, Windscribe Pro, excels at streaming — it unblocks more Netflix libraries than any other VPN — but its dated app design and limited country coverage keep it from the top spot.

VPN.AC is fast, private, and works in China. It has a strong privacy policy and a secure server network that’s great for torrenting and unblocking international streaming services. VPN.AC isn’t perfect, but it’s a safe and affordable VPN with helpful advanced features.

Mozilla VPN is an excellent service from a trusted name in tech, using the same server network and technology as Mullvad VPN. In our tests, it delivered fast, secure connections across its entire network. Its main drawbacks are limited success unblocking streaming services and modest device support, but it’s a strong choice for torrenting thanks to its strict no-logs policy.

Proton VPN is a well-rounded VPN service that’s highly secure, easy to use, and delivers excellent connection speeds. Its biggest strength is privacy and security: it keeps no logs, is independently audited, and its apps are open-source. While the premium plan is pricey, Proton VPN is the best free VPN available: it’s safe, extremely fast, and has no data limits — though it doesn’t work with Netflix or torrenting.

PrivadoVPN has an impressive free version, but the premium plan is underwhelming and doesn’t stand out in any single area. Despite fast speeds and solid streaming performance, it’s overpriced and lacks extra security features and server locations compared to competing VPNs. Both versions are safe to use, but only the free plan is clearly worth it.

Avast SecureLine earned an underwhelming 5.3/10 in our tests. It logs too much user data, isn’t secure enough for torrenting, and doesn’t unblock US Netflix. Although it’s very fast and easy to use, there are more private, secure, and effective VPNs available for a lower price.

Perfect Privacy is underwhelming. It’s not inherently bad, but it falls short in nearly every test category. Its main strengths lie in privacy and security, backed by an audited no-logs policy, a reliable kill switch, and secure OpenVPN encryption. However, its inability to bypass streaming platforms, lack of an iOS app, and tiny server network make it impractical for most users.

TorGuard is an excellent VPN choice for torrenting. It maintains a strict no-logs policy that's been proven in court, features an automatic kill switch, supports port forwarding, and allows P2P traffic on nearly all servers. The service offers apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, Fire TV, and router compatibility. However, its standard plan isn't suitable for streaming, and users must pay extra for dedicated or residential IP addresses to access streaming content effectively.

Kaspersky VPN offers impressive speeds, but it isn’t secure enough to trust with your personal data. We can’t recommend it due to its ties to Russian authorities, intrusive activity logging, and limited streaming performance.
